Chapter 20
Serena POV
Seems I was the only one who noticed Myles’ reaction when he read whatever it was that he saw on his phone. The rest of the room was busy with one thing or the other.
Myles looked worried, and then he looked angry as he forcefully shoved his phone into his pocket. I really hoped I wouldn’t get to be approached by strangers with mysterious briefcases again. I was done delivering cases backed with human parts.
It was already past 9 p.m when Myles began to rise from the table.
“We need to head back now. I gotta drop Serena off…” He started saying.
“Nonsense.” Old Tobias shook his head. “Why does it feel like you’re chasing off the good lady? You should show her your room, let her pass the night here.”
My breath caught in my throat. This wasn’t what I was expecting. I had only come here to meet his family and certainly wasn’t prepared for a sleepover!
