Chapter 71

Serena POV

Glass exploded, and shots suddenly went up as well as smoke, but I barely had the time to register all of that when Theo collided into me, sending me straight to the floor. The man was old, but there was no denying that he was agile, too. I could tell why Myles wanted him babysitting me.

“Stay down!” Theo screamed, his voice carrying over the whole noise.

“Wha… what is happening?” I asked.

“We’re under attack.” He replied, already pulling out a pistol from his waist. “Stay down. Don’t move a muscle.”

I wasn’t planning on getting up anytime soon, though, so that was one command I was going to carry out to the last detail.

From where I lay sprawled on the floor, I heard the unmistakable sound of gunfire and the shouts of the men as they did what they could to keep the attackers at bay. Theo tried to look up and out of the window, but a few bullets hitting the window pane dangerously forced him back down.
