Serena POV

“What? You can’t be serious!” I exclaimed, but Detective Davies was already bringing out a pair of handcuffs.

“Under arrest?!” I screamed. “On what grounds? He just had his house blown up!”

“By the same people he’s decided to mingle with.” The detective replied without even looking at me. “He knows what I’m talking about.”

I turned to look at Myles. He wasn’t saying anything! He wasn’t even defending himself, but his hands were still wrapped around me. I didn’t know if he’d forgotten or if he simply wanted his hands around me. He stared at Detective Davies silently with not even a flicker of emotion on his face.

“Damn it, Myles, talk to him!” I screamed in frustration. “Tell him that you’re innocent.”

Myles stubbornly stayed silent.
