Davis

Where did everything go wrong?

Davis didn’t know what to think. But all he knew was it was all his fault. If only he had paid more attention. Things would never have happened like this. Allison was happy when they talked and when they laughed.

But he was too selfish. The look on Allison’s face and tears made him realize what was wrong.

“They can’t find Allison,” she said.

Her legs stumbled, and he held her tightly. It was all his fault. They arrived at her house, getting into the car. He didn’t bother inspecting it. Whoever did this could not bug a car when they kidnapped a child.

It didn’t work like that. He let his personal feelings get in the way of his job. This had never happened before. Perhaps, it was because he met Allison. But still, how could he have never thought they’d go for Lizzie?

He tried to convince himself that she wasn’t taken, though he couldn’t say it out loud because he knew there was a rare chance for that.
