Chapter 9

Davis

The rain fell heavily, and the thunderous cloud made sounds while the lightning struck the sky. He laid down, thinking about how things had gone the last time he was with Allison.

She had told him the job was over and she didn’t need any protection anymore. He should have been happy she said that. So, why hadn’t he gone home, the one place he wished to be since he ever came here? He wanted to stay for a whole one month because that was when he would feel satisfied, knowing his job was over.

His phone chimed, and he remembered the conversation he had with his boss, telling him there was a new client after his one month ended. He opened the message and saw the address, glad that it was close to home and comfortable for him.

He dozed off, but a phone call woke him up. Who could that be? It was getting late. It was probably his boss.

The name ‘Allison’ flashed across the screen, and he let out a groan. Wasn’t his job over? Was she missing him already?
