Chapter 57. Samuel’s Doubts
“Did Mama and Papa fight, Grandma?” asked Serena, who was now staring at Emily with a worried look.
Hearing that, Emily, who was pouring maple syrup on the pancake, immediately stopped and fell into a stiff silence. She was confused about how to explain this situation. Then, she put the bottle of maple syrup beside her plate and undid her intention to eat the pancakes immediately. Her hand reached out to gently stroke the cheek of her only grandchild.
“Your parents are fine. Don’t think too much about it, now you eat breakfast and go to school with enthusiasm,” Emily said smiling warmly giving Serena understanding.
“But Mama cried all night. Serena has become a sweet child, it can’t be that Mama is crying because of me. Did Papa do something bad to Mama?” she urged for answers.
Meanwhile, Emily was just frozen in place. She racked her brain, looking for the right sentence to answer a serious question from a 10-year-old.
“Listen to grandma, honey…” Emily
