Chapter 59
A depressing walk up to the stairs of her apartment made her more disappointed. She entered and collapsed onto the leather couch beside her, the scent of air freshener hitting her nose and, unfortunately, not calming her down. Dead silent, she listened for Charlie, hoping to the heavens that he was asleep right now.
She dragged herself to her bedroom, letting out a pathetic sigh. The sky-blue walls had some pictures hanging up of various alternative bands, stuff she enjoyed listening to, most of which she got as birthday gifts from her grandparents. There were also plushies around of little bats and wolves, along with some cat toys she’d collected. She threw her handbag on the bed and headed for the kitchen. She served herself two sandwiches and a glass of cool orange juice.
