Chapter 20

The stones broke the window at the back of Levi’s car as he pressed on the gas hard, causing the car to speed out of the compound and past Ace. The glass had shattered, the shards projecting right to the front seats.

Clary’s heart pounded in her chest and she flinched away from the shards that were shot at her but she was too late; a few of them hit her, causing a small tear on her left arm.

Levi kept speeding away until he was a good and safe distance from the compound, but mainly, from Ace. “Gosh!” He exclaimed as he tried to calm down. He could feel the adrenaline rushing through his veins. 

He glanced at Clary and asked, “That was crazy. Are you okay?” 

Clary could feel the pinching pain on her left arm but she nodded and replied, “I’m okay, just keep driving.” She forced a smile. She had seen Ace angry and break things before but had never seen him try to hurt someone. 

“Are you sure?” 

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” She replied in a sm
