Chapter 13

The following morning, I was just getting dressed for classes when Lucia woke up; her hair was so messy that as I turned back to grab my phone on top of my bed, I almost had a heart attack.

“Whoa! Please fix your hair,” I complained, walking up to the top bunk bed where my phone was lying down.

Lucia’s feet touched the ground. She went to the mirror, dressing her hair. She saw me getting down by using the mirror to look at me and said,

“Elisabeth, can you please wait for me? We’d be going to class together today.”

The fingers in her hand were still brushing her hair as we both looked at each other.

I pulled out my schedule; yesterday I had class with Mr. Drake, and today it seemed we’d be going on a different note—the forestry class with Mrs. Addy.

I stayed while Lucia went to the bathroom to bathe and change into something comfortable. She finished just before the time for our class was set. We both left our dorm together, and with other students
