Chapter 364
Jaden’s POV
“Yes,” I said, taking a step closer. “I think it’s time you hear for yourself where you stand in his life.”
Her lips parted as if she wanted to argue, but then she pressed them together tightly. “I don’t want to talk to him,” she said finally, her voice trembling.
“You don’t have to,” I replied, pulling out my phone. “Just listen.”
She hesitated, her hands gripping the fabric of her dress. I could see the battle in her eyes, the desire to know the truth clashing with the fear of what she might hear.
I dialed Logan’s number, masking it with an unknown ID once again. The phone rang, each beep like a hammer striking my chest.
Layla’s breathing grew uneven as she stared at the phone, her knuckles white from clutching the edge of the bed.
Finally, the call connected.
