Layla's POV
I didn’t know how to feel. But one thing was for sure… I couldn’t keep running from my past.
I needed to figure out who I was. And I needed to figure out who I truly loved.
I stood in the corner of Logan’s hotel room, my back turned to him as I clutched my phone to my ear.
I felt his eyes on me, his gaze heavy, unrelenting. I tried to ignore the way my heart pounded, how my palms grew clammy.
“Hello?” I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.
Jason’s voice came through the line, warm and familiar.
“Hey, Layla. I just wanted to check on you. How are you?”
Guilt flooded through me, cold and sharp. I didn’t want to lie to him, but I couldn’t tell him the truth either. I couldn’t tell him I was here, in another man’s hotel room, my heart racing for someone who wasn’t him.
