Liam's POV

Maxine appeared by the door accompanied by a little version of the woman in front of me. The small girl was smiling, holding onto Maxine's hand.

When Maxine saw me, there was an unreadable expression on her face. She crouched down and smoothened the hair on the little girl's head.

"I'll be back to play with you tomorrow, okay?" She smiled.

The girl pouted but she nodded. "I'll save you my cookies." She offered.
