“Something just happened, you wouldn’t believe it.” Kaito gushed, tapping on the homepage of Jhene Cornwell.
Imani ignored him. She picked out two slices of bread and uncapped the jar of strawberry jam.
“I thought you didn’t like that?” Kaito asked and an emotion flashed through her face before she tightened back the cap and returned it to the fridge. “Does this picture ring a bell?”
Kaito loaded the profile picture of Jhene, a young girl whose hair was done into double dee-dees. Her eyes were a soft shade of blue and she smiled, revealing her pearly whites.
He angled his phone at Imani but she didn’t look up from the bread she was coating in butter.
“Imani?” Kaito shook the phone in his hands and she grunted in response.
“I’m not speaking to you.” She took a bite out of the bread and a pleasure-filled expression crossed her face.
“Why?” Kaito withdrew his hand, placing his phone on the island.
