Chapter 4

Blessing's POV

I knew I shouldn’t get my hopes up. They all were nothing but monsters. They took everything from me and sold me as a sex slave. Now, I was trapped in this nightmare where I had to sell my body to a man I despised. I couldn’t even escape from him.

I sat up in bed, rubbing my temples to ease my pounding head. I had to find a way out of here.

Determined, I opened the door cautiously and peeped through a narrow opening. To my surprise, the corridor was empty. It seemed the security had forgotten about their duties completely.

It was a perfect opportunity. I took advantage of this situation and quietly slipped into the corridor. I hoped that no one would notice me. I couldn’t imagine how much trouble I would have to face if I got caught.

I hastily left the building and walked through the garden, trying to clear my mind. I looked around and saw that everyone was working hard, even in the middle of the night. I didn’t think anyone wanted to be here. They just had to follow the orders of their masters.

As I walked down a path through the trees, I heard someone crying. It sounded like a woman, and it seemed like she was in trouble. I followed the sound and found her hiding behind the bushes. She was sitting with her knees pulled up to her chest, and her face was buried in her hands. Her long brown hair fell over her face.

I called out to her. “Are you okay? I’m Blessing. Maybe I can help you.”

The woman looked up at me, and I saw her teary face. She was about my age, maybe a little older.

She spoke to me in a soft voice. “I’m May. How can you help me?”

I knelt down next to her and asked, “I’ll figure it out if you tell me what happened.”

“They brought me here against my will,” she said. “They’ve taken everything from me.”

I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. I wanted to help her get out of there. But how could we escape? It wasn’t like we could just run away. There were guards everywhere, watching us all the time. They made sure none of us tried to escape.

And there were worse things waiting for us if we did. We’d be punished in the most awful way. It was better to give up and be a slave than to suffer those punishments.

I couldn’t just stand by and watch May suffer. She was so vulnerable and weak right then, and she needed someone to take care of her.

I thought for a moment, and then I decided.

“May, we should try to escape. But I need your help,” I told her. “It’s not going to be easy, and it will require you to trust me completely. But if we work together, we might stand a chance.”

“Tell me what to do,” she replied.

“I need to steal something, something that’s very important. I can’t explain everything to you right now, but I promise that you will be safe if you help me,” I said.

“I trust you,” May said, surprising me. “I’ll do anything you ask me to.”

I smiled and took her hand. “Thank you,” I said.

We walked down a dark alley, keeping our eyes open for anyone who might try to stop us. It was late at night, but we didn’t want to take any chances.

We stopped at the edge of an alleyway. May looked nervous, but I could see she wanted to do this. “Are you ready?” I asked.

“Yes,” she answered, “I’m ready.”

We made our way through the alley, avoiding the street lights. I could feel my heart beating in my chest. I was so afraid someone would see us, but it was worth the risk.

We stopped at a door at the end of the alley. There was no sign on it, just a padlock on the door.

“What do you think we should do?” I asked May.

“Let’s try to break it open,” she said, kneeling down next to the lock. She pulled out a bobby pin from her hair and started working on it.

I watched in awe as she made quick work of it. The lock clicked, and the door opened with a loud clank. I looked around, and when I was sure no one heard it, I motioned for May to follow me inside.

We entered a large room that had shelves stacked high with boxes. I didn’t see anyone inside, but we stayed quiet just in case.

I went over to the shelves and started checking each box carefully. When I found the one I was looking for, I pulled it off the shelf.

“Here it is,” I said with a smile.

Inside the box, there were files filled with information.

“What is this place?” she asked.

“It’s called a ‘warehouse,’ and it belongs to the man who controls us,” I replied. “He’s the one who sells us as sex slaves.”

I knew right away that this must be the man dressed in black. I took out the files from the box, looking through them one by one. There was so much information here, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for.

Then, I found a document labeled “Lexa.” My heart skipped a beat. It was my sister’s name.

After spending months in captivity and not hearing anything from her, I didn’t want to believe that my sister was locked somewhere nearby, suffering as much as I was.

But fortunately, Lexa who I thought was my captured sister was not really my sister.

“We should leave now,” I told May. “But there’s no way to get out of here without being noticed. What should we do?”

She looked at me and said, “There’s only one way to escape.”

I knew what she meant. We had to steal a vehicle and drive out of there.

“Are you ready?” she asked.

“Yes,” I answered, “Let’s do it.”
