Chapter 45
I couldn't believe it. I had this whole image in my head of Eleanor coming to me, tears streaming down her face, begging for forgiveness. But I never expected death to be the outcome. It hit me like a punch to the gut.
"Damn you, Eleanor," I muttered through clenched teeth, my fists tightly clenched at my sides. I turned to the spy who had delivered the news.
"You better not be messing with me," I warned, my anger burning in my eyes. "If this is some sick joke, you'll regret it."
The spy remained unfazed, his expression as cold as stone. "I assure you, my lord, I conducted thorough research before delivering this news," he replied calmly. With that, he left me alone with my thoughts.
