I got to the front door and hesitated for a moment before turning the knob. When I glanced back, Kaden was still there, his car parked close by, just watching me. I waved goodbye one last time with a wide smile, and he nodded before I finally headed inside the house.

“Princess,” As soon as I stepped through the door, I heard my dad's voice. He came in from the living room, beaming as he pulled me into a warm hug.

I relaxed instantly, wrapping my arms around him and burying my face in his chest with a deep sigh.

“Are you good? How was your day with Kaden?” he asked, pulling back to look at me.

I paused, feeling a twinge of guilt about everything. I knew I had to lie. “It was okay,” I replied, not very convincingly.

“Just okay?” he teased, raising an eyebrow.
