Summer POV
“A heads up would be nice next time, Ezra,” I grumbled when we got to the parking lot.
He grinned. “You’re a warrior, you’re always prepared for anything.”
“I nearly peed my pants!”
“It’s the smallest things that terrify us.”
“What scared you?” I tilted my head to the side.
“Proposing to you.”
I blushed.
I didn’t like the tone of Ezra’s council. Despite my mate’s stance, it was like four against two. However, I wouldn’t want to cross Ezra if I were them.
“Summer!” Estelle ran up to me. “I can’t believe this.”
“Neither can I, Estelle. We only got engaged yesterday.”
She glanced at my right hand and her eyes went wide. “I didn’t see that on stage. You did look like a wet puppy abandoned in the rain.”
Ezra chuckled and I glared at him.
“Blame him,” I swatted his arm.
“I was expecting to kick someone’s ass this was a pleasant surprise,” she smiled genuinely.
