On the day Ariana walked out of the Medici home, Lucas wasn’t himself, but he let her go.
As soon as she walked out, Maria turned to face him in rage; her eyes were a mirror of pain and sadness.
“You promised me, child,” she growled out in pain.
“Don’t you dare. You had no right to embarrass me like that in front of them. You spoke out of turn and brought forth something so uncalled for,” he growled at Maria, who stepped into the office.
“I have watched you for years. I may not be your biological mother, but I am still your mother,” Maria responded.
