Chapter 40. Suspicion
Alan’s POV
“Here,” I said, opening the pill and dropping it into Lily’s palm. I took some distance from her. She had been arguing over my decision. And trying to make her see things from a different perspective was pretty hard.
“I’m doing this for us,” I added, resting my back on the arm of the couch. She was seated at the edge of the bed right in front of me, a scowl etched on her face.
“Honey, what if we are making a mistake?” she asked, her gaze fixed on the pill I had just given her.
“A mistake? No, no… we are making the best decision,” I replied firmly. “You can’t allow your brother to take over the company.”
She shook her head in displeasure, clearly not convinced.
“We don’t hurt families, we protect them,” she said with so much pity.
I knew she didn’t want to do this. I was determined to make her do it, even if I had to force her to swallow the pill.
