Chapter 20. The Friend

George’s POV.

Dad’s arrival was sudden and unexpected. As soon as he was back at the mansion he threw a party, just like he always did to celebrate every small thing. Father was a boisterous man, and ready to party at any time.

I met him at the ballroom for the first time since he got back from wherever he had run off too. We exchanged a hug and then he went off to attend to the rest of his guests. I stood in a corner and watched him.

He was so happy, as he usually was, and seeing him happy made me happy.

He was only ever truly happy when…….when mother wasn’t around.

I didn’t want to think about all that right now. There was so much more to think of and bother about than how failed my parent’s relationship was.
