Chapter 22
Grace’s POV
I curled up on a couch, reading a romantic paperback. I tried to convince myself it was because I missed the pleasure within a book, but I knew the real reason was that I was waiting for Kelvin to come home.
After that night, I didn’t try to speak to him about that topic again. We were normal around the kids, but once they were tucked into bed, I disappeared into my room. I was starting to regret moving into the Morgan household, but the kids were growing on me, and I didn’t have the heart to be away from them.
My heart started to flutter as I heard the entrance door open. I ran a hand through my hair unconsciously and stared hard into the brown pages of the book, seeing nothing.
I knew the moment he walked into the living room and spotted me. He stopped in his tracks, and I looked up then, pretending to be uninterested in his return. He looked hot as always, but I could see the tiredness in his eyes.
