Chapter 36. His Past
“You're not kidding, are you?" asked Matthew in surprise.
Sarah shook her head, showing seriousness on her face.
Matthew exhaled. He shook his head a few times. "I can't believe it. Why do you feel the need to make yourself worthy of me? I mean, I’m just a human like you," he said, looking at Sarah with a questioning face.
Sarah snorted, "You're a successful lawyer who came from a happy family, and me? I don't need to explain who I am, do I? I don’t even go to college," she said sarcastically.
Matthew gaped. It took a while before he could finally digest Sarah's words.
"Happy family? That's not the right words, and just so you know, I've been through much worse poverty than you can imagine," he said earnestly. He can still clearly remember what happened to him in the past until one miracle changed his life and his family forever.
