Chapter 35. Someone You Loved

Sarah gripped her hair tightly, feeling wholly messed up. At the same time, Matthew ran fast to get the car keys.

“Let’s go!” he said as he walked briskly toward the door.

Sarah looked up, then nervously followed him out of the house. Outside, they no longer saw the people on guard, which meant that all of Abbot’s family probably knew the truth about who Sarah was. She didn’t know it was that good news or a bad one.

Matthew checked the car with a bug detector sent by his secretary. His hunch was correct. He found four bugs and cameras in every corner of the car.

“Matt, don’t you think we should talk?” Sarah said, fastening her seatbelt. Her voice was shaking.

“This isn’t the time to talk,” he said stiffly. Sarah felt a throbbing pain in her chest. She remained silent because she knew the wrong words would only worsen things, which was the last thing she wanted to happen.
