Chapter 8. Morning Wood
It’s 6 a.m. on a Saturday as I go downstairs from my apartment. Rick just called to say he had arrived. I’m a little cold, a little nervous, but definitely excited for the day ahead. When I exit the apartment building, I see Rick standing against his slick, grey BMW. He smiles when he sees me. He’s holding the herbal tea I love so much and a paper bag of healthy breakfast cookies.
“Your flowers,” he says, handing me the tea and cookies.
“And you remembered my favorite type,” I say before kissing him.
“Do you trust me?” he asks me.
“The right answer should be yes,” I respond slowly whilst making a face.
Rick smiles and lightly punches me on the shoulder. “Asshole.” He goes to the car’s passenger side and opens the door for me. “I’m only doing this because your hands are full with your breakfast, not because you’re a proper gentleman.”
