Chapter 17
The next day, I got ready to go to work, though I didn’t want to. All parts of me kept grumbling louder just thinking about it. Feeding chickens, cleaning horse poop, and carrying apples all over the market — these were all I knew would happen, but I still had to get ready. There was no more joy in galloping to work.
After signing my due register, I went to Lilian for my first assignment.
“Hope you had a good night’s rest?” she asked.
“Whatever,” I answered.
“This morning, you would be joining Sangeeta in feeding the swine,” she said.
I felt depressed at this time. I turned around and looked at Sangeeta, who was actively waving and smiling at me. I did not understand, but I could tell she was enjoying the job. At least I could take some advice from her and learn how to cope with such a difficult job.
“Okay then, how do I go about it?” I asked.
“Sangeeta will guide you, but you’d be mixing milk in their food,” Lilian added.
