Chapter 12
Chantal’s POV
I didn’t know how I would feel. I thought our parents had gone too far with the arranged marriage, and why Mateo had agreed, even though he had a spouse. That wasn’t right. Was business more important than love, or was he most likely doing what his parents wanted?
I walked away, not understanding what Mom had said, but catching bits of it. She mentioned that dinner was ready, but I ignored her. I went straight to my room, with its simple design featuring lamp clouds, and lit the center of the ceiling, which flashed with miniature stars.
I didn’t know why I was feeling so guilty, or if we had done something wrong.
“I can’t stay like this; I probably have to loosen up,” I said to myself as I sat on my bed.
My training as his secretary would start in a few days, so I wouldn’t have to think about this again. But how?
