Chantal’s POV

As the lady walked out of Mateo’s office, I could hear her stamping her feet, and I held my breath, waiting for her reaction. I had no idea why I acted in such a fearful manner toward that obnoxious octopus, but I did, as I looked at Mateo, who was laughing. Then, I walked away from him.

“You’re such a show-off.”

“Who wouldn’t be proud of such a beautiful wife,” he said to me as I was about to walk away. He laughed, and it was nice to hear that from him. He hugged me tightly after that.

“Girlfriend, don’t forget that we are no longer married.” Making a funny face, I clarified that I was just testing him to see if he would take back what I’d said.

As we hugged, he let go of my arm and looked at me as if he were disappointed.

“Of course. I have to get used to that,” Mateo smiled.
