Chapter 110. Dogs
Elaine could not contain her joy as she walked into Samber Auction House. Just a few minutes and she would be free. There was a part of her that hesitated as she walked to the large white semicircle that formed the reception table.
Hank and Reiki walked behind her but they walked with more confidence than she felt. Everything about Samber looked expensive. Even the air felt expensive. And had she been on her own, she had no doubt that some Samber House official would identify her as an imposter and cast her outside.
But the fact that she would finally be free, and be able to save her self-respect in Andrew’s eyes caused her to hurry to the reception table. She had already called ahead.
“Hello.” She practically glued her skin to the desk.
The receptionist, a blonde woman with a bony face structure that looked like she belonged on the cover of Vogue magazine, smiled at her.
“Good afternoon, welcome to Samber House. Are you here for an auction?”
