Chapter 117. Incriminating Evidence
“What, Andrew?” Annette was groggy when she picked his call. “It’s past my work hours.”
“I know, I know, but this is urgent,” he said, as he opened the door to his room.
His room was bigger than the one he had at his house but it was much the same in many aspects. The same type of large bed with soft dark colored cotton sheets, a computer setup close to the window overlooking the side lawn on the west wing of the house and a shelf of books, folders and awards. Most of his life was characterized by his work. And it was no secret that Melvin had more friends than he did.
Not that he would exchange a day of his life for Melvin’s friends but yet, when it came to Elaine, the switch seemed like the right thing to do.
“Urgghh. You’ll have to-”
“Pay you. I will. By the hour. Right now.”
“Please, don’t tell me that this has to do with Elaine.”
