Chapter 109. Flour Mixture
Melvin tossed the mixed flour in the air but caught it in the bowl before it would fall and disperse, floating like dust mites. Usually, he never took part in dinner preparations but he wanted to get down and in with the cooking for whatever Elaine would eat.
“Do the staff a favor and get out of the kitchen,” Andrew said, walking in with a smile.
Melvin groaned as he tipped the flour bowl over and into a bowl of liquid that would form the sauce base for the snack he was making for Elaine. It was one of his favorites. His grandma’s own recipe.
“Shouldn’t you be at work?”
“I got off early today.”
“Why? Did you run out of people to torment?”
“When you’re here? Never.” Andrew took an apron that one of the staff gave him. “Now, tell me what you think you’re making and let me show you how it’s done.”
“Oh please, you wouldn’t even know how to boil water if you were left in the kitchen alone.”
“At least, that stops me from burning the kettle,”
