Chapter 121. Melvin’s Room
She knocked on the door again but with less effort than before.
The tray of snacks she held in her hand had gone cold but the bite sized snacks still tasted delicious. A bit strong, almost too spicy but just in the right way that Ming had taught her to eat. The snacks were now half of what they were in the tray and she was beginning to feel light headed — a bit tipsy.
But she hadn’t even had a glass of wine at the table. The anxiety of sitting beside a moody Melvin while wearing a fake ring while everyone planned a wedding that wouldn’t happen and named children that would never be born had stopped her from having a good dinner. So these snacks served as more than a replacement.
Especially when she put into the equation, the fact that the woman at the Fast Food joint, Gwen or so, had caused her to lose most of her appetite with her thinly veiled threat.
