Chapter 124. The Spell

Elaine tried to keep up with Andrew’s steps but he was taller, with longer legs that seemed to work at double the speed of her own pace.

“Can you slow down a bit?”

If he heard her, he didn’t say a word. Instead, he seemed to increased his pace as he continued to walk down the hallway, past Melvin’s room. They walked past several doors before he came to a stop in front of a white door. She, trying to measure how fast he was walking, failed to watch where she was going and she bumped into him. He caught her just before she fell.

His hands went around her waist while her hands slid onto his shoulders for support. He held her like that as though they were suspended in time. She loved the feeling of his hands on her waist, as she stared into his blue eyes. Her chest felt like it was expanding with all the joy in the world.

Why couldn’t she just have the one person in the world whom she loved? She fought the temptation to trace his jawline, even as his eyes dropped
