Her mouth parted and her hands reached to her trembling lips. “Melvin?”
“Yes, my brother.” He leaned against the chair and placed his hand on the desk. “Where is he?”
“How am I supposed to know where your brother is?”
He shook his head. “Whatever is going on between you two, for the sake of peace, you better stop it.”
She slammed her bag on the chair. “There is nothing going on between us.”
He humped. “Here you are yelling and a few minutes ago, you were speaking as if one word would break my table.”
“Mr. Swernbach, I do not understand what you think is going on, but Melvin and I have nothing going on.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Then why am I here if you won’t believe me?”
“Whatever you think you can gain from my brother, I am warning you again, Elaine Johnson, I will personally make sure that it doesn’t happen.”
