Chapter 23. Dinner Invitation
Annette had informed him that they would be coming in soon. He stood at the wall-to-ceiling window that overlooked the city and clasped his hands behind his back. What would he say when he saw her? He didn’t know yet. It wasn’t like he needed to see her. His grandfather had already mentioned that they would be doing the business and she had said she wouldn’t be the one writing the book but he just couldn’t let the feeling go that there was something more to this. Melvin was too interested in this.
There was a buzz on the phone on his table.
“Mr. Swernbach?”
“Yes?”
“They’re here.”
He straightened his tie. “Let them in.”
He turned around and walked to his table, a clear glass semi-circle table. He sat in his father’s thick leather white swivel chair and watched the door. The gold handle turned and the door opened. Miss Featherbrough entered the room first and Elaine followed after.
