Chapter 26. Scented Roses

Friday afternoon came with jitters. She’d been so confident when she told Andrew that she would come to the dinner and win over his family but now, as she ran her eyes down the checklist for the manuscript she was editing, she wasn’t so sure she could make it to the dinner.

She’d spent the past three nights, ransacking her wardrobe to find something proper to wear. Last time, she could have made the excuse that Melvin picked her up and she was unaware of where they were going. This time, Andrew would pick her up, assuming he wasn’t being sarcastic about the whole thing.

She dropped the checklist and began to scroll through the novel on her system, her eyes moving left and right but the words barely made sense. There was another issue that ate at her mind like water at a sandbar.
