Chapter 39. Love You
The first interview was scheduled to be held in the main board room on the top floor of the Swernbach building.
Elaine overlooked the city through the floor-to-ceiling glass on the left. The curtains were drawn back and the natural sunlight gave the room an airy sunny feel. Other than that, the room appeared very plain. There was a rectangular desk with ten chairs on both sides and two bigger chairs at either end of the desk. Behind the chair at the head of the table, a white projector lay suspended from the ceiling.
“Should I get you anything?” Annette asked.
Elaine nodded, testing her pen against a scratch pad stacked on top of two notes beside her sound recorder. “Coffee would be fine.”
“How do you like your coffee?”
She didn’t know she had the right to order a Swernbach employee around. Not one that was older than her and especially not Andrew’s personal secretary. “You know what, just forget the coffee.”
