Chapter 40. Favorite Swernbach
Andrew arrived at the board room before Elaine. He spent the ten minutes before her arrival flipping through pages in the file he held. There was a knock on the door. She walked into the boardroom with a clipboard pressed against her chest, dressed in a cream turtleneck and dark green jeans.
“Good morning.”
She nodded. “Good morning.”
She dropped her bag on the chair opposite him. “Where is everyone?”
His smile grew. “It’s just you and I today.”
She set her glasses on the tip of her nose and raised a brow.
“My mom had a charity event to attend outside the city. She’ll be gone for most of the week. My dad claims he’s receiving alternative healing services. Grandma had to check back with her business.”
“I didn’t know she still had a business.”
“There are many things you don’t know about us.”
“And Melvin?” she asked with a bit of hesitation.
He shrugged. “He told me he would be here.”
