Chapter 44. Wedding Gown
Elaine paced in front of Caroline’s room. She barely had time to have her bath and pack her hair.
Even though their house was closer to the church, Caroline had – on aunt Megan’s advice – insisted on spending the night at a hotel twice the distance of the journey from the house to the church.
She linked her hands behind her back. Aunt Megan hadn’t allowed her into the room because it would be bad luck for her to see the bride’s dress first. She rubbed her temple. Where did her Aunt get all these weird superstitions from?
A scream came from inside the room. She paused, staring at the door and wondering if she should go in. She didn’t even have to. The door flew open and Aunt Megan came out with an enlarged puffing chest, red faced and hot tongued.
“Elaine!” She grabbed Elaine’s ear and pulled her into the room by her ears.
“Ouch! Ouch!” Elaine’s feet worked double time to keep up.
