Chapter 71. Fists and Punch
“We’re here.” Melvin pulled the car to a stop in front of the restaurant’s parking space. “Why don’t you go in and order? I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
Elaine pushed open the door and stepped out, with her silver heels touching the cemented floor first. “I’m going to wait here.”
Melvin’s hand tightened around the wheel as he tried to control another outburst. He didn’t want to scare her off. He reached for his phone in the paper compartment on the car deck and dialed the number of the Head of Operations, Engineering department.
He deserved an explanation of what had happened in the car. Sure, the new models weren’t perfect but he had been assured that the car was fit for road use. What if there had been an accident? Elaine’s reactions worsened his feelings.
Their relationship was on rocky grounds as it were and he didn’t want anything else to destabilize it. He slammed his fist into the car horn and the alarm from before blared into the space.
