Chapter 70. Flushed
She groaned.
“Please just hear me out,” he said.
The little frown on her face proved that his words weren’t getting through. He must have messed up a lot this time. He didn’t usually pray – but this time he did that – she would open up our hearts to him.
“We can talk on the phone.”
“No.” His thumb rubbed her smooth chin marred only by a dark brown stain. He rubbed off the smudge. “I just want you to know that I love you very much and I value your opinions.”
“Awesome. Let me see you off.”
She hooked her arms around his and led him to the door but he stopped and turned looking down at her.
“Forgive me.”
“Yes, Melvin. I love you too much to hold a grudge against you.”
She had that sickly sweet smile on her face again. The same one she had on when Andrew had arrived at the restaurant when she had accepted that they were engaged.
