Chapter 96. Coffee Mug
“I had the most terrible day,” Elaine said as she sat in the car seat beside Reiki.
After she’d been freed from the station and bailed out the ever ungrateful Brian Caldswell, Presley had ordered her to return to work. True to Andrew’s words. And he had worked her like a slave. Almost as though he was punishing her for choosing to return to work.
“Easy for you to say,” Reiki frowned, staring her down. “You almost didn’t get fired.”
Tom and Hank had been upset that she and Reiki went to the pawnshop without informing either of them. They’d come to an agreement that Reiki was not pleased about. Reiki would stay outside the office and wait in the car with them while Elaine was free to have a semblance of a normal life at work. Which she couldn’t have anywhere else. Tom or Hank would be by her side in other places and the bathroom was the only place Reiki and Elaine would be close together alone.
