Chapter 100. Reiki’s Theory
She emerged from her room a long while after when she was sure Andrew would be gone and Reiki would have returned.
Reiki had returned, and now sat at the curving Island bar, shuffling a deck of cards while Tom sipped some red drink from a glass through a straw. Hank picked up the cards that were strewn across the table.
Elaine tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and adjusted her glasses on the bridge of her nose before approaching the gang of three.
“Reiki,” she called, clearing her throat. “Where is it?”
Reiki dropped the cards, and turned so that she faced Elaine with her legs crossed. “I already told you on the phone-”
“So, no change?”
“I tried to talk to him. Told him all you said, but he still insisted that…” Reiki’s voice lowered. “Maybe this isn’t the best time to talk about it.”
“I’m done, okay? I can’t continue like this,” Elaine said. “And I don’t care if everyone knows that I said yes because-”
“Because what, Elaine?”
