Chapter 103. Gold Digger
Elaine shut her eyes, unable to stand the glare of his anger that would come because she had constantly lied about the whereabouts of the ring.
“I lost it,” she repeated in her mousy voice.
“How? When? Where? You said you had it. Where is it?”
“I did. I do.”
“Then how is it lost?” She felt his arms on her shoulders. “Speak to me, Elaine.”
“I found it.”
He sighed, audibly.
She opened her eyes as she stared at him. He was much closer now. Almost as close as they had been in the room, but they were now face to face. His thick blonde brows shadowing the intense dark glare of his eyes.
He was so close. So close that if she stood on her tiptoes and inched forward, she would kiss his lips. But the frown of his lips was an indicator – along with the fact that he said he didn’t believe in love.
