Chapter 48

Jeremy woke up with a start. He felt his head and to his relief, the headache was gone. He heard the birds chirping outside and he knew it was dawn. He must have been out for the night. He blinked and sat up. His movement brought a gasp from someone nearby.

"Jeremy!" Jeremy felt weight against him as Mandy flung her hand around him.

"Hey." He smiled wearily, patting her back.

From beyond her, he noticed they were not alone. Kelly and Lawrence were present in the room too. Lawrence stood nearby by the door with his arms folded as usual and a scowl on his face.

"Thank goodness." Kelly put a hand over a chest. "You nearly had us worried."

Jeremy glanced over at Lawrence caught a sudden shift in demeanour. It went from nonchalant to relief and then back to the former. He raised an eyebrow in interest.

"What happened?" Jeremy asked to the remaining occupants in the room

"You kind of passed out." Mandy explained, relief and worry danced in her eyes.
