Chapter 4
In the end, we didn't come to a solution that would be helpful.
So I practically told him that we should enjoy the evening. If it was my last, I wanted it to be a good one. Nevertheless, this dark cloud had hung over us.
I just got home and immediately rushed up the stairs, although I couldn't hear anyone. But if my father was here, I wanted to hide. My previous behavior certainly had an aftermath.
I quickly entered my room and closed the door behind me. Only then did I turn on the light and with a sigh? At least I had made it here unscathed.
I rolled over and just wanted to go to bed and deal with this nightmare again tomorrow, but something caught my eye.
There was something on my desk that didn't belong there.
I walked towards it, and it could never have escaped one's notice. It was a bright red piece of paper, presumably so that I would notice it.
When I arrived in front of it, I took it in my hands, and underneath it were a few others that were in white. But first I read the red one.
My eyes flew over the few lines, which made me pause.
"Tomorrow at ten o'clock you will be picked up. Whether you like it or not, you go."
Morning?!
I didn't have another day? That was a few hours.
How long had that bastard waited before telling me that?
I looked at the paper underneath, and the top word told me what it was.
It was the purchase agreement.
Wow, just wow.
I crumpled up the red note and dropped it carelessly on the floor.
I picked up the contract with trembling hands. Before I read any of it to know exactly what else was planned, I turned to the last page. The signatures were always there, and I wanted to know whether it had been decided.
I didn't like the answer at all. He had done it seriously. It even had Alpha Blackmoon's signature on it.
Who bought another person? How evil could anyone be?
I couldn't think any further as the door suddenly opened. I automatically put the papers down and looked over, annoyed. The intruder knew no knocking.
Of course, it had to be an unwelcome visitor, because Mai came into my field of vision.
I put on a fake smile and asked in an overly friendly manner, "Dear sister, what can I do for you?"
She glared at me angrily and said, "It was so obvious you were going to claw the alpha." That was practically a punch in the face, so I looked at her in horror. Claw was the wrong word for it.
Were you serious? This had to be a joke. I couldn't find the words when she said it.
Anastasia, my other sister, came up behind her and said, "Don't be ashamed. You leave us no way that we can say anything about it. No, we are presented with a fait accompli."
My brain stopped. They both glared at me and seemed convinced of it.
Wait, they had both found their mates. At least that's what my mum said to me.
Finally, I got something meaningful out of me: "You guys have mates?" They both looked at me like I was stupid.
Mai came up to me and said, "You selfish bitch want the alpha for you. But always acting like you're the greatest of us. You act like you're never interested in an alpha, but you snap one up at the first opportunity."
Before I could reply, she started to attack me. She would probably have pulled my hair or slapped me, but I managed to grab her wrist.
She managed to piss me off with that, so I growled softly and said menacingly, "Don't touch me."
She and Anastasia used to have the upper hand since they were older, but now I was able to fight back quite well.
I squeezed once, causing a facial grimace on her part. Then I let go of her wrist abruptly.
Mai stayed silent, but Anastasia let out a loud growl, which didn't impress me for a second. She continued: "You are destroying our lifelong dream, and you have no guilty conscience."
That gave me renewed hope. I could talk my father into either of them if they wanted to.
They've been following this madness since they were little. My sisters were keen on the title of Luna.
Mai, who was still standing in front of me, raised her hand again, which I grabbed in the next second. She hadn't realized that I wasn't a defenseless little girl anymore.
She bared her wolf teeth and let out a growl. If she wanted a fight, then please. But she would lose.
Suddenly our mum's voice thundered: "Mai! Anastasia! What are you two doing again?"
The two looked behind them in shock, and I could only roll my eyes. At least that ended without further drama.
Our mum appeared in the doorway, and Mai said angrily, "Layla attacked us. We didn't do anything." Of course, they took on the victim role.
Luckily my mum spotted the lie because she said seriously, "Go to your room and leave Layla alone. I don't want to hear from you anymore."
My sisters glared at me, and Anastasia whispered, "It's not over yet, I promise you."
I could only shake my head in disbelief, and the two turned and finally left.
My mum entered my room and gave me a concerned look. She asked, "What happened?" The two venomous snakes were loose, but I didn't say so. Instead, I said, "You're freaking out."
"Don't take your sisters seriously. They are too young and don't understand the extent."
Too young? Both of them were older than me. Besides, you had to understand that. It was sick being sold to a beast. In order not to annoy myself unnecessarily, I should put that aside and concentrate on other things.
The previous thought came to me, so I voiced it: "They both want to go to Alpha Blackmoon voluntarily. Does your mate know that?" With this designation, I reminded her that she was most likely to succeed with my father.
She sighed and looked at me sadly. So he knew that, but the monster didn't care. That hope was shattered into all its pieces.
It was only now that I noticed that her eyes were very swollen. She had probably been crying all evening, which made my heart ache.
I just asked the next question, "Where's Jason?" She cleared her throat, and I knew I wasn't going to like the answer. "He's been put in a cell until you're picked up tomorrow. The argument between him and your father escalated."
Inside me was this deep anger that I suppressed. I shouldn't let this one out on her. It wasn't my mum's fault. I could tell she was trying, only it did not affect my sire.
Still, I would have loved to tear up a scene or smash something. I took a few steps into my room and ran my hands through my hair desperately.
Softly she said, "You must hate me." You could tell from her voice that she was about to cry. That let the anger subside, so I stopped and looked at her softly. "It's not your fault. Well no, I don't hate you. I never could and you know it."
She came towards me and pulled me into her arms. I allowed it and returned the hug. Very quietly and upset she said, "My baby."
