Xavier missed me? Did he say that? I must have misheard.

I stupidly asked, "What?" It came out very quietly. I could hardly believe his words. Xavier pulled me to him and this closeness bothered me. Its smell was divine.

He didn't sound like he was lying. I tried to read the expression on his face to see if it was the truth. However, that was difficult to see. The man didn't like to show anything. Except for anger, of course, which you recognized immediately.
