Chapter 36. Confronting Liam

Anna’s fingers twitched at her sides, but she masked her discomfort with a calm facade. “Let’s not waste time, Liam,” She said evenly, stepping further into the room now that the door was closed behind her. 

“You said you wanted to talk, right? Well, here I am.” He shrugged, giving her his full attention. “Do you not like working for the company? If you think the work is too much, just wait until you see your pay at the end of the month.” He smirked. 

“It’s not about money.” 

“Then what is this about?” He stood to his feet. He walked to the front of his desk and sat on it, folding his strong arms on his chest. 

“What really happened to Mrs. Hale?” Anna bravely asked, even though her heart was thumping so hard in her chest. Her nerves were going crazy and she felt like she could throw up at any moment but she continued to try to keep her demeanor.
