Chapter 61. Meeting Him

Anna’s anger mixed with a glimmer of curiosity. Could Carlos really be telling the truth?

She had so many questions, but could she really even trust him again, after all he had done? Why should she believe him to go against his family when even though she wanted to believe that he liked her, they were not even close?

Her instincts told her to run, but something deeper compelled her to stay and listen. She listened to that voice that told her to stay. It was probably stupid, but her heart was leading her right now.

“What do you mean, help us?” Anna asked, her voice tinged with skepticism. “After everything you’ve done, why should I believe anything you say?” She waited for an answer from him, folding her arms on her chest.
