Chapter 7. Opening up to Him

"Oh, what were you studying?" asked Daxton, curiously.

"I was majoring in English Education. I've worked as an assistant teacher in a high school in Richmond for a year," said Aurora. Daxton's face displayed the admiration that he felt in his heart.

"Teaching is a very noble profession. Why did you leave everything and come here?" he asked. He couldn't directly ask her although he had been dying to know about her husband. Aurora's eyes focused back upon him, and she sighed.

"I had no choice," said Aurora, deep in thought as she slowly chewed her food. Daxton waited impatiently for her to explain herself further, but she just sat there with a faraway look on her face. Daxton ate silently, asking about nothing else. He wasn't the type to prod and dig for information.

"I know you're curious to know about Leo's father, but my past is so painful that I don't wish to go through it again," she said after a long time.
