Chapter 16. All I'm Asking for Is a Kiss

Leo was restless and scared, so she put on her breast to calm him down. After having his fill, he was about to doze off when she heard her brothers leave. All was quiet for a while, and she wondered what Daxton was up to. Was he there, or did he leave with them?

Suddenly, there was a soft knock on her door. "Aurora, I'm going home for a while. I'll be back later," said Daxton.

"Hmm, are you okay?" she asked, but it seemed he had walked away without hearing her reply. The front door opened and closed and she had a sinking feeling at the pit of her stomach. She knew he would leave. She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself, refusing to beg him to stay. No, she wouldn't force him to stay. She would think of a way to survive on her own. Maybe coming back to Houston was the worst decision of her life.
